[music |GONG<Album version> - JAM Project]

I've decided to, from now on, post some non-friends-only stuff on a whim.

Anyway, do you know how you know when you've bitten off more than you can chew (and are a habitual procrastinator)? When you find yourself walking to campus at 4am because it's the only way you could conceivably get things done.

Besides, a change of scenery always helps.

Plan for today

4:41a - Now
-- Finish 218 Project 4 (+ 60 min GrC 218) Completed: 5:52a
-- Study for 218 Midterm (14 chapters I need to read.. ha) (+ 60 min GrC 218 Didn't study long enough, but what's done is done.
-- 464 Program 3 Questions (+ 60 min CPE 464) 75% complete @ 7:00a
7:45a - GrC 218 Midterm
7:45a - GrC Project 4 Due
-- 30 Minutes after 218 to work on homework (+ 30 min CPE 464)
9:40a - CPE 464 Program 3 Questions Due
-- 1 Hour after 464 to work on (+ 60 min CPE 350)
12:10p - CPE 350 [Overdue] Assignments 4 and 5 due (What was 5?)

1 hour for project 4
1 hour for midterm study
90 min for program 3 questions
1 hour for two back assignments

Yeah, today is gonna suck.

Edit: Actually, I'm progressing pretty well. Kinda wish I could maintain this pace all the time.
Edit: That midterm was just plain stupid. A handful of broad questions and then a lot of points on something very specific. At least it's done with

Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving presentation, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.

This is really, really, really worth watching. As an Anonymous on /m2/ put of it: Few times in my life have I found it fitting to give a standing ovation to a monitor at twenty to one in the morning. This was one of them.

"Marketing Linux has always been a tricky proposition. As a community, we have relied on corporations who have a stake in the Linux operating system to market Linux to the world at large. Today, we have an opportunity to change that, and make Linux marketing as much a community effort as Linux development. That effort begins with the Tux 500 project.

Our goal is simple: we want to collect community donations to enter a Linux sponsored car in the 2007 Indianapolis 500. We need your help! If less than 1% of the Linux community donates $1, this will happen... will you do your part?"

I gave 'em $1.50

Theory on the spontaneous generation of emo kids [Jan. 25th, 2007|10:43 pm]
[mood | silly]

Alright, this was spawned by Matt and I discussing thought during a break.

He cited research that thought could induce a shift in the average of a random number generator. As the people who could not do this don't demonstrate telekinesis, we theorized that the interactions must take place at a very low level. Perhaps a subatomic level. Well, that would imply that though can somehow affect electrons. This would mean thoughts have some realizable energy, perhaps even a "brainon" particle, nearly undetectable. The only way we could think of to test this was to take a human brain (non functioning), place it in a controlled environment. The input of fluids would be carefully monitored, mass, energy contents, etc. The heat released by the brain (or any other energy) would have to be measured as well. Then the brain would have to start functioning. The idea being that if: final mass - energy lost as heat + mass input + energy input - identifiable energy lost != 0, it would imply that there was either mass or energy converted into some other form, perhaps a "brainon."

So, we talk about the Global Consciousness Project and how it should variations around major world events. We also got on the topic of how monks seem to have better control over the physical manifestations of their bodies, like heat. Assuming this comes from great introspection.

If "brainons" increase their affects during times of great stress and depression, they must flow somewhere. That's right: emo kids. Emo kids are also introspective, but lack the discipline or control of a monk. This makes them ideal conduits for the "brainons" to flow into, as thought seems to attract more thoughts. This means that emo kids are a result of positive feedback. Once some rogue "brainons" entered their systems, their weakness increased and more particles were drawn towards their minds.

That said, the number of emo kids is an indicator of the "fuckedupiness" of the world. Every time something happens that causes people rethink the world around them, countless normal people are spontaneously driven into emohood through no fault of their own. After that point, the "brainon" aura around emo kids makes those around them emo kids. They all have the urge to express themselves: through music, poetry, or terrible youtube videos. This is an attempt by their brain to expel these "brainons" into other hosts, to free itself from it's own torment. These particles can damage the nervous system over time, causing hallucinations, such as crawling in one's own skin or becoming so numb that they can no longer feel you there. Other physical symptoms are a weakening of the immune system, which can lead to wounds which will not heal.

Of course, in the end, it doesn't really matter.
